T. Kingfisher (aka Ursula Vernon) is a unique author of fantasy, romance, and horror. As a fan of all three genres, I’ve indulged in many of Miss Vernon’s works, and I can honestly say I’m obsessed. If you’re tired of the usual Fae and Werewolf duels or magical worlds filled with impossibly beautiful and perfect characters, T. Kingfisher is the author for you and this story is how you can initiate yourself into her world. Her characters aren’t the most intelligent, attractive, or flawless. They’re sometimes magical, sometimes cursed, sometimes enchanted—mostly, they’re just "human" or not, with imperfections and feelings. Reading Miss Vernon’s stories is a refreshing palate cleanser in fantasy, something you’ll find yourself needing more often than you think. Her "Swordheart" is a simple but elegant, non-bombastic, and complicated tale with a je ne sais quoi that will captivate you. Give her a chance—you won’t be disappointed.
