T. Kingfisher (aka Ursula Vernon) is a unique author of fantasy, romance, and horror.
As a fan of all three genres, I’ve indulged in many of Miss Vernon’s
works, and I can honestly say I’m obsessed. If you’re tired of the usual Fae and
Werewolf duels or magical worlds filled with impossibly beautiful and perfect
characters, T. Kingfisher is the author for you and this story is how you can
initiate yourself into her world. Her characters aren’t the most intelligent,
attractive, or flawless. They’re sometimes magical, sometimes cursed, sometimes
enchanted—mostly, they’re just "human" or not, with imperfections and feelings.
Reading Miss Vernon’s stories is a refreshing palate cleanser in fantasy,
something you’ll find yourself needing more often than you think. Her
"Swordheart" is a simple but elegant, non-bombastic, and complicated tale with a
je ne sais quoi that will captivate you. Give her a chance—you won’t be
disappointed.
Halla has
inherited the lord she was taking care of. His family locked her in her room
because she stubbornly decided to not wed her lord’s great-son. Sarkis is an
immortal swordsman trapped in an enchanted sword Halla inadvertently wielded. This story is their
fabulous adventure.
